Haiti: Bel-Air residents go after area gang with help from rival gang

An armed mob of Bel-Air residents fanned out in the Port-au-Prince neighborhood Tuesday in search of G9 gang members and their leader, Jimmy ‘Barbecue’ Cherisier.

Accompanied by 400 Mawozo gang members, the residents sought to avenge the killing of at least 20 people, looting, and arson that left many residents homeless. The residents have erected barriers all around the neighborhood in an effort to keep themselves safe.

One Bel-Air resident told Trip Foumi that the Haitian National Police failed to do their job, so residents have to take matters into their own hands.
