Haiti: 157 Million Electricity Project Coming To Haiti

Haiti President Jovenel Moïse announced Saturday he plans to launch an electricity project that starts in Bois-Neuf in Artibonite and ends in Léogâne, a town 30 kilometers (18 miles), from Port-au-Prince.

The project, to be implemented jointly by Electricity of Haiti and the Overseas Engineering Construction Company, is funded by $157 million Taïwan donated to Haiti in July. Moïse did not specify when the work will start nor when materials will arrive.

“The launch of the construction of the metropolitan electricity network, in presence of the Taiwanese ambassador, is a supplementary step for the children of the country, especially those who live in remote areas, to have access to electricity,” Moïse tweeted Saturday.
