Dont’a Hightower, Patrick Chung push Patriots to six players who plan to opt out for 2020 NFL season

Linebacker Dont’a Hightower and safety Patrick Chung are the latest members of the New England Patriots planning to opt out of the 2020 NFL season, giving the Patriots a league-high six players set to do so.

A day after Patriots fullback Danny Vitale and offensive lineman Najee Toran and Marcus Cannon indicated they would stay home this season, Hightower, Chung and running back Brandon Bolden all revealed that they would do the same. Hightower, like Vitale, recently became the father to a newborn. 

“Me and my fiancée are just more concerned with the health of our family than football — especially the new addition to our family,” Hightower told NFL Network
