Ambassador Guy G. Lamothe Permanent Representative of Haiti in China:
“To the Haitian community in China
This May 18, 2020 brings back the 217th anniversary of the creation of our flag. This historic act symbolizes the essence of our common identity as Haitians. The occasion is therefore favorable for me to wish the compatriots living in China Happy Flag Festival. May the lessons of its creation serve as our driving force, in these times of shared anxiety, to strengthen us in the cults of understanding, solidarity and above all in the obligation to preserve the hope of the rebirth of our destiny of greatness traced by our ancestors. Those who forget their history, it is said, are condemned to relive it. Let’s beware of ignoring this solidarity and this hope. Young people of my country, let us keep the love of our two-tone high and firm. Let’s be proud and worthy.”
