The new municipal authorities elected in the elections of March 15 will assume this Friday, April 24, amid the state of emergency declared by the Dominican government on March 20, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, which requires the local officials more dedication and commitment to their respective demarcations, because there is no room for truce.
Expectations are concentrated on the first measures that the new municipal authorities would adopt, due to the health situation they will find in their municipalities, some with more coronavirus infections and hygiene and contamination problems than others.
From this Friday, 158 mayors will begin a period of 4 years. In the act of taking possession, the social distancing measures established by the government must be applied to prevent this ceremony from becoming a focus of contagion, especially when it comes to collegiate bodies, such as councils of council members and members , that the quantity is greater.
The transfer of command would be less traumatic in those demarcations where the mayors were re-elected, that everything would remain the same, unless for this new period they want to introduce something new.
