Les Cayes : 38 MW electrical project
The regional electrical network project in the South (Les Cayes) will supply 10 communes : Cavaillon, Saint-Louis du Sud, Camp-Perrin, Maniche, Torbeck, Chantal, Saint-Jean du Sud, Arniquet and Port-Salut. A 20 megawatt (Mw) gas power plant and an 8 Mw Photovoltaic (Solar) plant will be built to supply this network. To be continued…
Return to normal at PAP
After the violence of February 23, life resumed “its normal course” Tuesday in Port-au-Prince. The main roads had been cleared from the barricades erected on Sunday, public and private transport were in operation again, the small merchants had taken back the sidewalks and the shops and supermarkets had reopened. Kinapping : Courts called on to be careful
Faced with the increase in kidnappings against ransoms, the Association of Haitian Magistrates (ANAMAH) urges in a note, the magistrates in general to show firmness in the application of the law and prudence in the management of their displacements in particularly in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince where kidnapping cases are frequent.
Young disabled people on company internships
A team from the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) visited several private companies, including two branches of Access Haiti, the El Cubanito restaurant and NOVAMAT Motors SA where young disabled professionals have been doing an internship for about a month. At present, 9 young people benefit from this program set up by the BSEIPH in collaboration with “Humanité et Inclusion” in order to improve the employability of young professionals with disabilities. Exchanges are underway with other companies to allow a greater number of people with special needs to benefit from this initiative. These internships last two months.
Literary Prize for Fritz Deshommes
The 2019 Joseph D. Charles Prize was awarded to Fritz Deshommes, the Rector of the State University of Haiti for his work entitled “Haïti : la Nation écartelée”. The award ceremony will take place on Friday March 6, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the gardens of the Georges Castera du Limbé Library.
