The Seiban pilgrims marched through different streets of the Colonial City yesterday until they reached the Fray Antón de Montesinos monument, as a way to keep alive their claim for the delivery of the lands they claim were stripped of them in the community of La Culebra.
The pilgrims were accompanied by leaders of the Association of Agricultural Workers Mamá Tingó, from the Vicentillo district. They marched from Parque Independencia with banners and singing protest songs.
As a whole, the protesters were hopeful that the process of solution to their claims will begin definitively this afternoon during a meeting they will hold with the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ramón Peralta, officials of the IAD, of the CEA and titration.
They thanked President Danilo Medina for the answers they have offered through Minister Peralta. “We have the firm hope that the authorities will put everything necessary for the peasants to have their lands, where they have always worked and been born on them,” said Father Miguel Grullón.
