The Minister of Health, Dr. Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, and the director of the National Health Service (SNS), Chanel Rosa Chupany, guaranteed yesterday that the Nelson Astacio General Teaching Hospital, which is built in the Santo Domingo Norte municipality, will offer health care to the entire population that comes in demand of their services.
Previously, the president of the Dominican Medical College (CMD), Dr. Wilson Roa and the Minister of Health, Sánchez Cárdenas had offered a press conference in which they communicated that the center would be for the care of doctors and their families.
The center, whose construction began in the last government of Dr. Leonel Fernández, is part of the consortium of hospitals of the City of Health.
Construction was carried out by the company Carimex and IBT Group, chaired by José Ramón Brea González.
During a tour of the hospital under construction, Rosa Chupany said that the health center will be co-managed by the Government and the Dominican Medical College, but will be open to all public, “not only will it attend doctors, nurses, bioanalysts and all personnel in the sector health but also the general population.
