Haiti: The Chinese will build the new Parliament at a cost of $89M

The construction work of the new Haitian Parliament started by the Dominican firm Hadom and then suspended by the Government of Haiti, will continue with the Chinese firm Hongyan Construction Company Limited, whose headquarters are in Zhoukou (Eastern Henan Province) in the Republic of China. Note that this Chinese firm already has to its credit the construction of the building of the Superior Court of Accounts

The new Parliament, an imposing complex of 40,000 m 2 consisting of 4 buildings that will be built at a cost of 89 million dollars, was awarded to the Chinese firm during a special tender, procedure used when a building is classified national security (Parliament’s plans can only be disclosed under certain high security conditions).

The construction works, located on the site of the former Parliament destroyed by the earthquake of January 12, should last 36 months out of contingencies (excluding days or weeks of mobilization, strike, riots
