From 3 to 5 July 2019 in Saint Lucia, will be held the 40th ordinary meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)…
The unique market and economy, which aims to facilitate the free flow of goods and people, as well as the situation in Venezuela and Haiti are on the agenda of this meeting.
Caribbean country leaders will try to move forward until next Friday on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), which they see as the best opportunity to facilitate economic development of the region in a global environment mutating. The Haitian President, Jovenel Moïse, who wants the integration of Haiti in this single market plans to attend this meeting [if the situation in Haiti allows it].
On the eve of this important press conference, Irwin LaRocque, the Secretary General of CARICOM, said about the objective of the CSME “[…] we will get up-to-date information on what has been done and what has not been done,”recognizing that progress towards a single market has not been as numerous as desired.
