Haiti: More than 200 Haitians deported every day from Dominican Republic

The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) reports that it carried out from 10 to 19 June migration control operations in 13 provinces : Azua, Dajabón, Espaillat, La Vega, Hato Mayor del Rey, Montecristi, Puerto Plata, San Cristobal, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santo Domingo, Santiago Rodriguez, San Jose de Ocoa, Valverde and the National District during which 2,740 Haitian nationals were controlled.

The migratory control teams were composed of inspectors, agents of the DGM with the support of the military, the National Police, the body specialized in the security of tourism (CESTUR) in coordination with the Public Ministry of the concerned Provinces.

After the verification process using biometric readers and the central database, 1,944 compatriots (70.9%) were declared in an irregular migration situation.
