NYC: Boy, 11, critical after being wounded in stray-bullet Brooklyn shooting

An 11 year-old boy was in critical condition Thursday night after he was caught in the middle of a shooting in Brooklyn, police said.

The unidentified child was struck near his right shoulder while standing on the corner of Lincoln Place and Schenectady Ave in Crown Heights just after 7 p.m.

A gunman opened fire on a man down the block. “A couple of the rounds went wild,” said a police source.

One hit the 11-year old, and another hit a 31-year-old man in the knee, police said.

The gunman unloaded at least six rounds, said sources. None of the bullets hit the gunman’s intended target, said Chief Charles Kemper of the Brooklyn North detective squad.
