NYC: Man fatally shot stepping out of elevator in Brooklyn housing project

A Brooklyn man stepped out of the elevator of his apartment building and into the sights of his killer.

Rasheed (Rah) Bennett, 31, rode the elevator to the lobby of his building in the Eleanor Roosevelt Houses on Lewis Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant just after 2:45 p.m., and was shot once in the chest as he exited, cops said.

Medics found Bennett face-up in the lobby. They took him to Woodhull Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.
