Dominican Republic: Citizens complain about failures in DGP services

The long lines, the limit in the assistance and the failures in the system are the main complaints that people who go to the General Directorate of Passports (DGP) to request a travel document.

The number of people visiting the institution increases significantly on the eve of children’s summer vacations, a situation that has coincided with the revamping of the digital platform and the security of the DGP.

Starting at 5:00 in the morning, the GPP esplanade begins to be filled with people from different parts of the country, with the sole purpose of obtaining the book or renewing it.

Although administrative work begins at 8:00 in the morning, applicants must be before 7:00 to get one of the shifts to be attended, otherwise they will be forced to return the next day.

As expressed by Elizabeth Vásquez, who has traveled three times from Villa Mella without satisfactory results.
