Dominican Republic: Barrick announces US $ 1 billion investment in the country

The Barrick Gold Corporation, which operates the Pueblo Viejo mine, announced last night that it plans to invest US $ 1 billion in its operations and infrastructure works and social responsibility in the area.

The announcement was made by its president and CEO of Barrick Gold Corporation, Mark Bristow, at a ceremony at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in the presence of officials, businessmen and representatives of various sectors.

He explained that the proposal includes a project to increase the capacity of its processing plant, of its tailings dam, generating the potential to extend the useful life of the mine until 2030 and beyond.
“Barrick expects to complete the feasibility studies for the expansion project during the year 2020,” he said, after stating that the capital investment proposal will double the contribution the mine has already made in the Dominican Republic.
