The Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) yesterday issued the “Declaration of Santo Domingo”, in which they pledge to redouble their efforts for greater political participation of women.
The document, signed during the XXXVIII Assembly of Delegates of this inter-American organization, aims to achieve equality and autonomy in the exercise of women’s political rights and strengthen cooperation among member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS). ) for the sake of that goal.
The Minister of Dominican Women, Janet Camilo, who was elected president of the CIM during this assembly, explained the relevance of this declaration within the political panorama of the countries of the American continent.
“Our States must commit to identify which are those actions that represent political violence and implement public policies that can prevent and prevent women from being mistreated in their access to politics,” said Camilo.
