Police and other security forces are investigating a Cessna that crashed in Brokopondo. The aircraft crashed Tuesday near the race track of the Suriname Motor Sportpark, near mast 35. The pilot lost his life.
The body of the pilot is said to have been found in the vicinity of the burnt-out aircraft. There are indications that it must be a Brazilian aircraft and it is suspected that the aircraft is a drug, since the authorities were not aware that it was in Surinamese airspace.
This type of device is frequently used to drop drugs. It is suspected that the aircraft must have had problems shortly before landing or after take-off and attempted to land on the race track. At the moment there is little information available, since the men are still investigating the site.
