An elderly Brooklyn woman was tied up, dragged into the basement of her building and sexually assaulted on Wednesday in a brutish attack discovered after the victim’s Life Alert button activated, police said.
Police sources said a 24-year-old suspect forced his way into the 88-year-old woman’s first-floor apartment on Vermont St. in East New York about 2 p.m., grabbed her by the throat, tied her hands and then pulled her into basement of the building, where he tried to rape her.
The woman’s Life Alert button activated during the attack, sources said. Medics arrived to find the victim bound in the basement, and partially dressed. They took her to an area hospital.
