Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign may have laundered money through a PAC to pay her boyfriend, a conservative group claims in a Federal Election Commission complaint.
The Washington, D.C.-based Coolidge Reagan Foundation alleges Ocasio-Cortez“funneled thousands of dollars of official campaign funds” through Brand New Congress — a PAC associated with by Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign — to pay her boyfriend, Riley Roberts.
The complaint alleges the PAC paid Roberts twice — once in August 2017 and once in September 2017— for “consulting” work. The transactions, which totaled just over $6,000, may have violated campaign finance law, the group alleges.
The foundation is asking the FEC look into the transactions, and alleges Roberts put the money to personal use.
Brand New Congress told Fox News the payments were legitimate, and that Roberts worked for the campaign from early August 2017 to late September 2017.
