A 28-year-old man was fatally shot inside a Brooklyn housing project, police said Sunday.
Daryl Eleam was blasted once in the torso in a third-floor hallway of a Cooper Park Houses building on Frost St. near Kingsland Ave. in East Williamsburg about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
“I was in my house and heard yelling,” said Luis Cruz, who lives in the building.
“One guy said, ‘Get the f–k out of here.’ Then a guy said, ‘We’re gonna violate your s–t.’ It was loud and clear. I’m pretty sure it was two different people. I thought it was right outside my door it was so loud. They were arguing for like 30 seconds. Then after that I heard two gunshots. It was ‘pop,’ then like a three-second pause, then ‘pop’ again.”
Eleam, who lived in Bedford-Stuyvesant, was rushed to Woodhull Hospital but could not be saved.
“I saw EMS bringing him down,” Cruz said. “He was on a stretcher. He had an oxygen mask on. They were pumping his chest, doing chest compressions.”
