Health technicians yesterday expressed to this newspaper great concern about what they consider the dismantling of specialized areas of the ministry. The issue has been a matter of concern for weeks. However, the health minister, Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas, denied that he had dismantled the team and said the changes are to improve and be consistent with the presidential objectives. Technicians who requested reservation of their names, insisted on which complete areas have been dismantled when canceling or transferring technicians in which the State has invested considerable resources.
In the last hours they have resigned or have been replaced technicians like the director of Epidemiology, Raquel Pimentel, and José Manuel Puello, this last epidemiologist who occupied the direction of Collective Health, now directs the Center of Tropical Diseases. Sánchez affirmed that Pimentel resigned for health reasons.
