Haiti: Faced with the proliferation of armed gangs, Jovenel Moïse announces the reactivation of the CNDDR

René Préval, in three words “poze, depoze, repoze”, with the CNDDR (National Commission of disarmament, dismantling and reintegration), the PNH and the MINUSTAH, attacked a situation of quasi-urban guerilla after the overthrow of Jean -Bertrand Aristide in 2004. More than a decade later, faced with the nuisance of the proliferation of armed gangs devoid of political ideology but pegged to politicians and businessmen for various reasons, Jovenel Moïse announces the return of the DDR without giving details.

For some time, President Jovenel Moïse’s regime has struggled to guarantee a minimum threshold of security, which is essential for the normal functioning of individuals and the growth of the country’s economic activities. In several parts of the country, particularly in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, armed gangs, often pegged to political sponsors, terrorize, steal, defy and taunt those responsible for public security.
