A self-proclaimed spiritual healer lured two women to creepy private ceremonies in Brooklyn, where he knocked them out with an alcohol-tasting liquid and raped them, prosecutors alleged Wednesday.
Nigel Kennedy, 51, was arraigned on a 13-count indictment in Brooklyn Supreme Court that charged him with incapacitating and raping two women during attacks in August 2016 and May 2018.
He pleaded not guilty and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
During the May 16 attack, Kennedy allegedly ambushed a 28-year-old woman during what she thought would be a spiritual reading at his home in East Flatbush.
Kennedy blew smoke in the woman’s face and poured a substance that tasted like alcohol into her mouth, causing her to vomit and pass out, prosecutors say.
When the woman eventually woke up, her pants were missing and Kennedy was having intercourse with her, prosecutors said.
The victim tried to push Kennedy off and told him to stop. “Relax, it’s part of the ritual,” Kennedy told her, according to prosecutors.
