THE Ministry of Education (MoE) is exploring partnerships with France, including the possibility of ‘twinning’ French schools with local schools. This was revealed when French Ambassador to Guyana, Antoine Joly, paid a courtesy call to the Ministry on Thursday.
Pairing French schools with local schools will allow for further training of Guyanese teachers in the teaching of French and for Guyanese students to have a better understanding of that language. Minister of Education, Nicolette Henry will identify a technical officer from the Ministry of Education to move the process forward.
According to a press release, the Ambassador and his delegation held discussions with Minister Henry reviewing ways in which the French nation can assist Guyana with teaching French locally, as well as assist in other possible areas of cooperation.
“Ambassador Joly and Minister Henry affirmed that such a move will aid in fostering even better relations between the two countries,” the release said.
