VIDEO-Haiti: Protests Erupt In Haiti Over Spike in Fuel Prices

Further looting occurred Sunday in Port-au-Prince, where residents were trying to resume operations after two days of violence triggered by the announcement – suspended since – of a significant increase in fuel prices.

The protesters have also announced a general strike of two days from Monday, demanding the immediate departure of President Jovenel Moise. The looting took place in the heart of the Haitian capital, in the commune of Delmas, reported AFP journalists. On the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, some groups were busy building new barricades.

Several airlines such as American Airlines and Air France have canceled their flights Saturday and Sunday morning, with the possibility of extension for the afternoon for lack of personnel to travel to provide services at Toussaint Louverture airport.
