It’s game over for Robert Taylor, the man police say is wanted for a string of robberies at GameStop stores throughout Manhattan, officials said Wednesday.
Taylor, 48, was apprehended in lower Manhattan early Wednesday, according to the commanding officer of the 1st Precinct, who tweeted about the apprehension.
“Robert Taylor has been apprehended,” Captain Angel Figueroa tweeted.
Cops were currently questioning Taylor. No charges have been officially filed, officials said.
Taylor was wanted for committing eight robberies since May 6.
At first, he was solely targeting GameStop stores, but when each store began putting surveillance pictures of him on their front doors, he branched out, cops said.
Police said he hit a Mattress Firm store in Greenwich Village on May 29, a Pret A Manger eatery in Korea Town on June 1 and a GNC store in Gramercy on June 6, officials said.
His last heist — and his biggest — was on Friday when he pulled a knife on a worker at the Versani jewelry store in lower Manhattan and ran off with $13,000.
Police said that during most of the holdups Taylor would pretend to have a gun in his pocket or backpack. He started using a knife in his later heists.
