MLK’s niece Alveda King has something to say to Starbucks: Stop Funding Planned Parenthood if They Want to End Racism

Alveda King challenged Starbucks to stop funding Planned Parenthood if they are serious about ending racism. King, the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., serves as director of Civil Rights for the Unborn a Priests of Life.

Starbucks closed 8,000 stores on Tuesday to conduct “racial bias” training. The coffee shop chain came under fire after two Black men were denied access to the restroom and arrested for trespassing after they were asked to leave.

letter sent to Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson, and signed by King (pictured), said, “If you think this public relations fix means Starbucks is no longer complicit in racism, it’s time to wake up and smell your own coffee.”

Starbucks is among the corporations that contributes to Planned Parenthood’s $1.3 billion in yearly revenue.

In 2018, Congress approved $500 million in funding to Planned Parenthood.

President Trump announced his plans to cut Planned Parenthood funding in May.

Planned Parenthood’s origin is rooted in racism. There are more locations in black neighborhoods and more black babies are aborted annually than any other race.
