NYC: “Brooklyn man arrested in death of girlfriend’s lover who was gunned down in street”

A Brooklyn man was arrested after allegedly gunning down his girlfriend’s lover in a fit of jealousy, police said Monday.

Cops apprehended 48-year-old Robert Flippen at his Boerum Hill high-rise pad Saturday morning and grilled him in the death of Laquan Surles, according to authorities.

The 39-year-old paramour was shot to death Friday night while crossing a street near Flippen’s home on Schermerhorn St. near Nevins St.

Flippen was charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded weapon charge in the love-triangle slaying, officials said.

The killing is the only violent crime on Flippen’s rap sheet. His last brush with law enforcement was in 1995, when police say they cuffed him on a drug possession charge.

Cops have not recovered the firearm used to kill Surles.
