Grenada: “6 Charged in Another Major Drug Haul”

Almost one million, four hundred thousand dollars worth of cannabis was nabbed in a drug bust over the weekend.

Six men were nabbed during a drug raid over the weekend appeared at the Sauteurs Magistrate Court onTuesday April 10 before Magistrate Karen Noel.

 

Sixty-one year old Parker Hyacinth of Calivigny St. George, Kurt Stapleton a 32-year-old fisherman of Frequente, St. George, 31-year-old Garfield Clement of Victoria St. Marks and Michael Scott, a 53-year-old fisherman of Lower Depradine Street, Gouyave St. John were charge with trafficking in and importing a controlled drug while Jackim Young, 21 years of St. Mark and Livingston Smith, 32-year-old bus driver of Mt. Horne St. Andrew were charged with the offence of conspiracy to traffic a controlled drug.

The men were charged after a fishing vessel carrying approximately five hundred pounds of cannabis was intercepted in the Darvey Beach area on Saturday April 7th, 2018.

In addition to the cannabis and the fishing vessel, a mini bus was also seized during the raid. The street value of the cannabis intercepted is $1,135,134.00.

Jackim Young was granted bail in the sum of $200,000.00 with 2 sureties and have to report to the Victoria Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

Parker Hyacinth was granted bail in the sum of $200,000.00 with 2 sureties and must report to the South St. George Police Station three days a week Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

Michael Scott was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.00 with 2 sureties and has to report to the Gouyave Police Station on the same days, between the same hours.
