Two men are presently in police custody following a massive drug bust in the eastern end of the island on Monday.
According to information reaching the Grenada Informer, over one thousand pounds of compressed marijuana were confiscated by members of the Drug Squad during an operation in the village of Conference in St Andrew’s.
According to well-placed sources the lawmen, acting on special intelligence intercepted a boat believed to have come from neighboring St Vincent moments after it touched the shoreline on a beach in the Conference area.
Information from our sources claimed that two of the three individuals aboard the fishing boat believed to be Grenadians were captured by the police while the third, believed to be from St Vincent managed to escape the grasp of the police and remained on the run up to press time Wednesday.
Tuesday’s bust, believed to be the largest in recent history, carries an estimated street value in the region of 2.6 million dollars.
