A 3-year-old girl died Monday after police found her unconscious in her Queens apartment, and cops said they suspect she might be the victim of child abuse.
Officers found little Bella Edwards in an apartment on Beach 105th St. near Shore Front Parkway in the Rockaways after getting a 911 call at about 6 p.m., according to police.
Bella’s stepfather — the only adult home with her — was performing CPR on the child when the officers arrived, police sources said.
Medics rushed her to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, but she couldn’t be saved. The girl showed signs of trauma consistent with abuse, sources said.
The NYPD Special Victims Unit will investigate her death. Late Monday, the family’s Easter decorations still hung on the door, but they were covered in blue-and-white police tape.
A 3-month-old baby also in the apartment was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
