A Brooklyn man was fatally shot in the face just steps from his home Easter Sunday night, police sources said.
Jerome Spence was shot in the head, neck and chest outside an apartment building on Sterling St. near Bedford Ave. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens at about 10:20 p.m., cops said.
Officers found the mortally wounded 26-year-old inside the building, unconscious and on a staircase on the second floor. It’s unclear how he got inside.
Medics rushed Spence to Kings County Hospital, where he died about a half hour later, police said.
A group of the victim’s horrified relatives, including his mother, crowded outside the hospital waiting room after getting news of his death.
“It’s too soon,” his mom’s boyfriend said, declining to comment further.
About a dozen of the Spence’s friends stood outside the hospital, waiting for family to come out.
Cops were still looking for the shooter late Sunday.
